About Programme
In the program, language of instruction is 100% English, the duration of education is 5 years, including a mandatory one-year "English Preparatory Program" (students who pass the English exemption exam are exempt from the preparatory program and can start their education from the 1st year). In the 7 semesters excluding the preparatory class, students take compulsory and elective courses in the fields of fiber science, yarn, weaving, knitting, nonwovens, dyeing, finishing, printing, apparel, textile machinery, quality control and technical textiles, composite materials, and nanotechnology, along with common engineering courses. In addition to these technical courses, our program includes engineering ethics, social responsibility projects, non-technical elective courses (consumer knowledge, innovation and entrepreneurship, academic writing techniques, vocational German, French, Russian, Chinese, etc.), and common elective courses that will contribute to the personal and physical development of the students. Furthermore, students take the Engineering Design course in the 6th semester, and after completing this course, they take a graduation project course conducted under the supervision of a faculty member in a field of their choice in the 7th semester. Courses are supported by instructors, the use of computers and projectors, and various experiments conducted in department laboratories.
In line with the newly emerging business dynamics; in order to meet the developing needs of the business world, improve the practical experience of students, and adapt them to working life, the intern engineering practice was initiated in the spring semester of the 2012-2013 academic year. Within the scope of the practice; students have the opportunity to receive full-time practical training in companies in the sector during their last semester before graduation. This practice aims to raise idealistic engineers who are better prepared for business life, have a sense of social responsibility, are innovative, and are open to cooperation. Thanks to the intern engineering practice, the vast majority of our graduated students find the opportunity to start working at the company where they interned.
Additionally, students of the Textile Engineering department have double major and minor programs with all engineering departments (except for departments that do not accept students or are newly opened). Students who successfully complete the Bachelor’s Degree program are given a diploma stating that they are awarded the "Textile Engineering Bachelor's" degree, which also bears the name of the university, faculty, and department. In 2006, a pilot facility that allows students to put the theoretical knowledge they have learned in classes into practice in an enterprise was established with the support of the SANKO company. In line with the newly emerging business dynamics; in order to meet the developing needs of the business world, improve the practical experience of students, and adapt them to working life, the Intern Engineering Practice was initiated in the Spring Semester of the 2012-2013 academic year. Within the scope of this practice; students have the opportunity to receive full-time practical training in companies in the sector in their final semester before graduation.
Students complete all theoretical courses by their seventh semester and, as of the eighth semester, choose the course coded TE 400, which has 4 credits and 30 ECTS, to start as intern engineers. In order for this internship training to be completed and graduation to take place, the student must receive a grade of at least CC. This grade is calculated by averaging the grades received from the company and the advising faculty member. Students spend their last semester practically in the industry during working hours as an engineer.

History
Gaziantep University Sani Konukoğlu Textile Engineering Department was established in 1996. The first undergraduate students started their education in 1998-1999 in the department, where the language of instruction is English. In the 7 semesters excluding the preparatory class, students take compulsory and elective courses in the fields of yarn, weaving, knitting, nonwovens, dyeing, finishing, apparel, textile machinery, and technical textiles, apart from common engineering courses.
Qualification Awarded
Students who successfully complete the Bachelor’s Degree program are given a diploma stating that they are awarded the "Textile Engineering Bachelor's" degree, which also bears the name of the university, faculty, and department.
Admission Requirements
Candidates with a high school diploma, candidates who show a certain level of success in central exams held by the Republic of Turkey Council of Higher Education (YÖK), Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM) or in international exams accepted by the Council of Higher Education, are placed by considering their preferences and success ranking. A candidate who earns the right to become a student completes their final registration with the specified documents within the period announced by the university. A candidate who does not complete their final registration within the specified period loses their right to register.
Higher Grade Transition
A student who successfully completes the Textile Engineering program can apply for master's and doctoral programs in Textile Technologies and Textile Sciences branches within the department or in other branches of science that accept students from this field.
Graduation Requirements
In order to complete the Textile Engineering Bachelor’s Education; students who take courses totaling 155 local credits or 240 ECTS credits, succeed in all courses by getting at least a (DD) and/or (S) grade, provide a weighted grade point average of at least 2.00 out of 4.00, complete the Applied Engineering Education (UME)/Internship Practice by getting at least a (CC) grade, and successfully complete the graduation project are entitled to receive a bachelor's degree.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates
Graduates of the Textile Engineering Department work as distinguished personnel in various organizations and research centers at home and abroad. A distinguishing feature of Textile Engineering is that graduates of this field have very wide job opportunities. This situation arises from the fact that the textile and ready-to-wear sector is a basic need (clothing, home textiles), as well as its integration into every aspect of life from medical to automotive, from construction to the defense industry with the development of technical textiles. While our graduates take part in production-based roles in integrated facilities at all stages of textile production such as yarn, weaving, knitting, dyeing, and finishing on one hand; on the other hand, they work in the fields of design, R&D, and quality control in high value-added sectors such as aviation, medical textiles, geotextiles, and composite technologies. In these fields covering quite a wide spectrum, the necessity of sustainability-oriented production and smart textile development that has emerged in recent years has offered new opportunities for textile engineers in digitalization and innovative product development in job opportunities. In addition, entrepreneurial graduates can operate in their own small or medium-sized enterprises in matters such as apparel production, special dyeing-finishing processes, technical textile design, composite production, etc..
